2004-2005:
Fall, 2004: The Wind in the Willows by Alan Bennett
Following the classic Kenneth Graemme story of Mole (Allegra Gust) finally venturing out of her hole and meeting a host of new friends like Ratty (Joel Stamm) and Badger (Colin Abel)--and the whole group dealing with the mischievous Toad (Mike Godfrey) who keeps wrecking any car he can get his hands on and has his mansion overrun by Weasels. Fun memories include Charb trying to move the row boat on his belly across the stage floor behind a short "riverbank" set piece, Mike finding other undergarments in his washerwoman laundry every night, and Colin's kilt. Spring, 2005: Seussical the Musical
This fun musical based off 15 stories of Dr. Seuss was fairly new when we found it and decided to do it that next spring. Its pop score was definitely something we had not tried before, and we had fun painting the stage all sorts of different colors, swinging on ropes, and not dumping Benny off the infamous rolling tree. Though they were in more than one play each, the strongest memories go out to Pedro Mendez and Chelsea Garner, two cast members who later passed away due to separate car accidents. 2005-2006:
Fall, 2005: The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood
This farce on the tale of Robin Hood featured a Town's Guy as a jovial narrator, a Robin Hood that was pretty sure of himself, an overreactive Maid Marion (and Nurse), pantomime bowling, Prince John and the Sheriff lip syncing to Kathie Lee Gifford, and spoons for weapons!
Spring, 2006: Crazy for You
This show features the wonderful music of George Gershwin, and it too, was fairly new when we did it. It featured tap dancing--for 8 girls and the lead guy--a challenge for sure, but lots of fun (except those that didn't like wearing their PINK show girl costumes... :)
"CRAZY FOR YOU™ is the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930's playboy, who's dream in life is to dance. And despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon-to-be-ex-fiancee, Bobby achieves his dream! Memorable Gershwin tunes include I Can't Be Bothered Now, Bidin' My Time, I Got Rhythm, Naughty Baby, They Can't Take That Away from Me, But Not for Me, Nice Work if You Can Get It, Embraceable You and Someone to Watch Over Me. It's a high energy comedy which includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers and classic Gershwin music" (licensed by Tams Witmark www.tamswitmark.com)
